(lifePR) (London, )UK food and drink manufacturers interested in maximising the potential for their products in France should consider attending the Food from Britain (FFB) Food Retailing in France Workshop taking place from 12 -13 June 2008 in Paris.
The workshop will give delegates an in-depth insight into the French market, an overview of the key industry players, tips on how to approach French buyers, how to position a British offering to the French market and most importantly, the differences between British and French retailers.
Delivered in English by Martine Foulloy, a senior consultant at FFB France, the first day of the workshop will cover an introduction to food retailing in France including a brief history of the market, concentration and internationalisation and a rundown of the current climate. This will be followed by an overview of the mainstream retail environment in 2008, highlighting types of outlets, profiles of major retailers and the market shares of the top seven French retail groups.
Details on the UK ex-pat and tourist markets and presentations on the market from an importers perspective as well as negotiating with French buyers will conclude the first day's activity.
The workshop will continue on the second day with further insights into the mainstream retail market. Relationships with suppliers, the degree of purchasing centralisation, pricing policy and private label development are among issues that will be explored followed by a closing session on hard discounters. The two-day package will also include lunch, dinner and coffee breaks, giving delegates the chance to mingle with industry colleagues and fellow exporters, to share ideas and experiences.
