Daria Tschaikowskaja plays Rachmaninov (Veraphon records, Kiel)

Veraphon (Homepage: www.veraphon.de) launches its releases from CDs with the world-famous Russian pianist Daria Tschaikowskaja (Homepage: www.tschaikowskaja.com), She has recorded works of her great compatriot Sergei Rachmaninov
Daria Tschaikowskaja (lifePR) (Kiel, ) Rachmaninov composed his second Piano Sonata in B flat minor one year before the outbreak of World War II. In 1931, when he lived in the United States already for many years, he reduced this to 120 cycles. Daria Tschaikowskaja has opted for the much more difficult original version of 1913. The second major work on this disc are the Corelli Variations from the year 1931. They are the last extensive piano work by Rachmaninov. Here the composer who remained connected throughout the world of classical and romantic era of his life, dares to the limits of tonality. Besides these two great works Daria Tschaikowskaja has recorded - as a kind of addition - the atmospheric Barcarolle in G minor, op.10 No.3. The recordings were made in the Rachmaninov Hall Moscow (location manager: Galana Katunina) and the recording studio Veraphon Kiel.
